This year 2012 the Chinese New Year celebrates the Year of the Dragon. Dragons are born leaders and are representative of the Emperor and his power. The Dragon is the fifth sign and only mythical creature in the Chinese Zodiac and is the most powerful of all the signs.
The Dragon is most compatible with the other dragons, roosters and ox, and should avoid the boar, monkey and tiger.
In the Chinese arts the dragon is a symbol of imperial power, might and goodness. It is also associated with the Yang Principal. In Chinese cosmology there is great significance given to the balance in the universe based on the Yin and Yang principles. The dragon symbolizes the yang principle which enbodies the active, positive and masculine side. Whereas the phoenix represents the darker, more passive female side.
